Exploring Costa Rica Pt.2

8:11 PM

The second day we woke up, we packed up our bags and waited for our driver to pick us up. Today he said he was going to take us to see the volcano called Poas. In the Poas you are able to look inside and it is spectacular. On our way there we caught the rain. So we stopped at this nice coffee place and the view the coffee place had was their huge coffee farm on the mountain,  the view was so unbelievable and the coffee was so delicious. The rain at first wasn't that bad but then it got worst as we went up the mountain. We ended up not seeing the great Poas and just went to the hotel. On the way there even though it was raining we saw some waterfalls and was able to stop at some gift shops. The ride was a bit scary if you ask me, since the rain brought down some part of the sides of the mountains and it would some of it block the road.

Luckily we made it to La Fortuna, which is a little town around the volcano Arenal. We stop at a restaurant, and ate the best nachos ever! When I think of nachos I think it was just going to be some tortilla chips that you would dip in cheese or salsa. Nope these nachos are ten times better, it is a bunch of tortilla chips and on top goes the meat, fried beans, and cheese. Then in the middle they had small portions of guacamole, pico de gallo (which is just diced up tomatoes, onions , and jalapenos), and sometimes sour cream. Costa Rican nachos are the best thing ever, we ordered them wherever we ate.

After that we went straight to the hotel. The hotel we stayed at was called Arenal Kioro. It is the closest hotel to the volcano. All 53 rooms faced the volcano, and yes it is active. Sadly when we stayed there we weren't able to see the volcano, but still had a pretty view.

We asked our driver what the best thing to do when the weather is like this. He replied " THE HOT SPRINGS." So that what we did. They have 7 hot springs pools and the first one is the hottest and then it decrease in temperature the further you go. While you are relaxing in the hot springs you can also get a drink at the bar. When it got dark we went to our rooms to change and ate at the hotel bar. I had a delicious shrimp quesadilla.

After all that we knocked out from how full we were and the long day. Day 3 we schedule to do zip lining and we were hoping the weather gets a bit better and not so rainy and foggy.
